“What is a netlabel really? It’s a brand isn’t it.
A brand to make people anticipate some sort of quality when you consume whatever the entity that is branded by the netlabel’s name.
Why is this quality augmentation by branding important?
The answer is obvious: There is a lot of shit on the Internet. You see, music making and producing has become so easy, that any goon that can string a couple of chords together and vocalize over it can “release” it and even sell it in the world. It becomes frustating for the music consumer/listener if all he/she finds in the creative commons scene is shit on the Internet. “That’s where netlabels come in. An assurance of quality achieved by curation”.
And in these Zine contains these netlabels, these brands. These netlabels has made an unspoken promise to you: to introduce and distribute to you the best music that it can promote. Curation provided by likeminded musical minds that have this one mentality: to shine light on the most awesome, relatively hidden music existing out there.
We have artist Wok the Rock, musician Alfan Rahadi, music connoisseur Rizkan Al Maudy and all the other netlabel owners (essentially curators) working hard exposing these hidden gems for you. And by owning a netlabel…they are promising you. “The unspoken promise to you: to introduce and distribute to you the best music that it can promote.” But, Ash? What if they break their promise? What if its all shit? Well, then we have failed you.
